Spring break is fast approaching! It has been a stressful couple of weeks. I am so excited to relax in my hometown of Bismarck, ND. The semester is going so fast, I cannot believe that summer is almost here. I have decided to take summer classes this year. MSUM offers a great opportunity for students to take a class during the summer for 2,3, or 4 weeks at a time. The class sizes are small and personalized. At the end of the summer I will have completed all of the general requirements. It is a very exciting feeling to have accomplished that much! Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys their spring break, whether you are going on an exotic vacation or relaxing at home!
Take care and be well,

Although this semester has proven to be one of my toughest, I did find a great class in the mix! As a social work student, there are several practice classes students are required to take. These classes teach social work students the skills necessary to perform well in the field. This semester, I am taking a family therapy class and I love it! Throughout the semester we perform various role play activities. In the role play, one student acts as the social worker and the other students act as a family. It is a great way to apply the skills we learn during lecture! This class has inspired me to possibly become a family social worker. The professor is amazing, and really applies what we learn to real life situations. Studying social work has really opened up my horizons. It is a life-changing profession, an area in which you can truly make a difference.

It has been a busy couple of weeks on campus. This week is Dragon Frost @ MSUM! The week is packed with events for students. Today free ice cream sundaes were being served in the student union! Thursday night is the formal dance in the CMU Ballroom! And on Friday the MSUM Women's and Men's Basketball teams will take on Bemidji State! GO DRAGONS! During half time the snow court coronation will take place. As you can see the week is full of fun events for students to enjoy!
This Sunday is also Valentines Day...which I am very excited about:)
I hope everyone has a great week/weekend!
Take care and be well,

Student activities are always a great way to get involved and meet fellow dragons. However, I was excited to find out that MSUM is taking part Haiti Earthquake effort. This Thursday MSUM will be holding a "Dragons for Haiti Dance Party." Dragons for Haiti is sponsoring this event to raise contributions and awareness of the devastation that occurred in Haiti. All the proceeds from the dance will go to Shelterbox. Shelterbox is an organization providing victims of the disaster with shelter. I think this is a great cause! Imagine all of the support and relief MSUM could provide for the men, women, and children of Haiti.
There is always an area of interest in which students can get involved on campus! Don't be afraid to join in the fun and take that extra step. Clubs and organizations are a great positive influence for everyone!

Snow Day
We were all very lucky yesterday that all classes were canceled! There was a big storm projected to hit us this last weekend...the rain made us all feel like spring time! Unfortunately, the rain turned to ice. Yesterday morning the snow came, blowing so fast. At the Admissions office numerous students were calling in wondering if classes would still be held. Many students, whom commute to Moorhead everyday were unable to make the drive. Luckily, by 10 a.m the decision was final-no classes.
I wondered what I will do with this snow day upon me. Homework, studying, or watching tv? Of course I chose to watch some TV and relax. It seems like forever since I've been able to do that. This semester has been very busy so far. Classes, studying, homework, and work have been consuming every hour of my day. The snow day was well needed. I think many students would agree. However, classes are back on and the weather is clear. Time to get back into the routine.
Take care and be well.

finals, finals, finals.......

Hey:)
So finals are just around the corner, I have my first one on Tuesday the 8th! Its crazy how fast a semester here can go! I get so caught up in the fun activities MSUM has to offer, that time just flies! I am surprisingly not too worried about my finals this sememster. Just three for me..it may sound like alot but last semester I had five! So I am pretty content with just three:)
Enough talk about finals.....Christmas time is fast approaching! We put up the christmas tree in the Admissions office today. It looks beautiful. The snow finally fell today; its finally looking like Christmas time! And yes I did pull out my holiday music already:)
This year we have a three week holiday break! I am very excited to relax (with no homework) and spend time with friends and family. I am also working over break....so I will be making some good money. The holidays are all about good times, good people, and holiday cheer.. Life couldn't get any better than that.
That is all for now.
Take care and be well.

Finals ahead.......
Thanksgiving break is right around the corner! We have the rest of this week and then just a day and a half next week. My plan for the weekend is to complete as much homework as possible! The last thing I want to be doing over thanksgiving break is homework. My birthday is on Tuesday and I am so excited to be at home to celebrate! I will be able to celebrate with my boyfriend this year:) We plan on going out to eat at Paradiso (free meal) and then we will see Twilight New Moon:) I am so excited! I think it is going to be the greatest birthday ever!
For thanksgiving I will be traveling to Beach, ND to stay with my boyfriend's family. We are really excited for good food and family time:)
After Thanksgiving break we have just 7 days of class until finals! I cannot believe that this semester is coming to a close! Unbelievable!
Take care and be well,
